This will enable staff to greet and make basic conversation with Zulu speakers. In addition to English and Afrikaans, Zulu is one of the most widely-spoken languages in South Africa, with over 27 million people who can confidently use Zulu. People who speak Zulu in South Africa: • Over 27 million people confidently use Zulu in Mzansi. Total amount of people who use Zulu abroad: • Quite a respectable number: 202 100. Where is it used? • Lesotho: 51 000 speakers, located mainly in the Butha-Buthe and Leribe districts. • Malawi: 37 500 speakers, residing in the Dedza, Karonga, Mzimba, and Ntcheu districts. • Mozambique: 3 000 speakers, all within the Maputo province. • Swaziland: 106 000 speakers, which is just under 10% of the population.
