‘ Vinnige Fanie’
The programme director for the evening was retired cricketer, Fanie de Villiers, or‘ Vinnige Fanie’ as he is better known— one of South Africa’ s fastest bowlers. He conducted an auction of four rugby balls signed by Graeme Pollock— one of South Africa’ s top batsmen— and raised a fair amount that will go to a deserving cause.
In his talk, he stressed the importance of not getting stuck in a rut, but rather to‘ change the process’: look at other ways of doing the same thing, but not in the same way; look beyond the problem to solve the problem.“ Life,” he said,“ is not complicated. We are inclined to make it complicated with all this modern technology and gadgets,” thereby suggesting that we take time out to get back to traditional family life and a less rushed life. PA
