Dalis Davidson stands before an array of her hand dyed wool yarns in her shop at Dancing Leaf Farm . Her sheep ’ s raw wool presents her with a blank palette . has tried knitting , and formerly ran “ Sip and Knit ” groups so knitters of all levels could come together ; spinning ( on a double treadle spinning wheel she imported from New Zealand ); and weaving on a loom . By far her sweet spot is felting — the process of agitating and shrinking wool strands and fibers into a thick , durable , yet breathable piece of fabric . The felting process allows lots of room for creativity , as it combines felted wool with other types of fibers . The panoramic views from her farm , and the changing seasons inspire her vision for what her fiber can become . Her signature “ lambscapes ” bring it all full circle : she uses wool she has felted from sheep raised on the farm , embellished with other wool and fibers from a variety of sources , to create a landscape image inspired by scenes of the Ag Reserve . Whether views of Sugarloaf Mountain , local ponds , streams , or farm fields , the wool of the lambs birthed a new art form .
