It was January 1 , 2000 , I woke with me . Over the years , I have up and the world was still intact , been regularly getting out of my despite the suspected Y2K bug infestation . I made a deal with myself comfort zone by trail running , mostly through ultramarathons . that if the world didn ’ t end , I would For those unfamiliar with the term make big changes . My special new ultrarunning ( or ultra ), it refers to millennial resolution was to start a run / race that is over a traditional exercising and get strong . I chose marathon length of 26.2 miles . In running ... something I never really the past twenty years , I have completed over 125 of them , including cheaper than joining a gym . Put

a couple of 100-milers . My version on a pair of running shoes , and go of funning . Why would anyone ever anywhere , anytime . Good plan . want to do this ? Let me explain .
Fast forward to August … I needed to start running . I had an epiphany at my daughter ’ s soccer practice . I realized sitting on the bleachers watching her practice was not the best use of my time . At that moment , I began walking the two-ish mile trail around the soccer fields and met another soccer mom doing the same thing . We became exercise buddies , holding each other accountable . She read somewhere that if you do something every day for two months , it becomes a habit . That being said , we made it to the two-month mark .
Our walking led to running , which led me to join a local running club . The club put on a series of 5K races throughout the year . I started feeling stronger . One of the club members , my friend Carolyn , convinced me to run the
