an eye for beauty Into the wild with Jane Gamble I grew up on a working farm in western Pennsylvania, so an appreciation for the beauty of agricultural lands runs deep in my DNA. There is a subtle enchantment to open spaces that provide both food for people and habitat for wild crea- tures. The light is somehow more pure, and the depth and richness of the landscape makes photography in agricultur- al reserves a true delight. I am a naturalist at heart, and the ability to zoom in on the fine details of birds or capture a distant animal in its native element is part of what drives my addiction to photograph wild things. It enables me, in my small way, to capture the beauty of the natural world.  I am fortunate in that my job enables me to travel to different and exotic places where I have encountered wonderful wildlife and beautiful terrain. Regardless of the exotic attraction of new places and animals, I am always happy to come home, to photograph the beautiful simplicity of our rural open spaces and the animals that give them life. In addition to my love of wildlife, I have a deeply rooted commitment to the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection. It brings me great satisfaction to see my photographs used to advance public awareness and appreciation for the fragile beauty of the natural world.  24 plenty I Spring sowing 2020
