For 48 years , Sugarloaf Citizens ’ Association has worked to protect and preserve the Agricultural Reserve — the 93,000 acres of northern
Montgomery County zoned in the 1980s for farming , open space , land conservation , and rural life . We are a dedicated network of citizen activists . We monitor new regulations and zoning issues , proposed commercial developments , and questionable activities that threaten the viability of farming or good environmental stewardship in the Ag Reserve and its surrounding rural communities . And we take action when warranted . SCA is also deeply involved in the county ’ s evolving efforts to address climate change .
