and even through our informal network of family and friends .
Even after my father ’ s passing and my hard-working brothers scattering to the four winds , our family farm still functions and produces an abundance of food . This is because my family was able to make creative and sustainable arrangement with a corps of eleven people from a large extended family with no land of their own but a desire to farm .
Today , the state of health of the farm , its proliferation of biological life , its intense beauty and productivity are the recruitment arm for others to join the movement of creating corps that holistically and robustly address both the crisis of our times and the potential passageway into a new and more enlightened era , sometimes called the “ Dawning of the Ecological Civilization .” I am not advocating that we eliminate all mechanization from our farming activities . Rather , I am advocating that we grab hold of our senses and proceed as a united front in the creation of more benevolent models of sustaining ourselves through farming while respecting and paying homage to the giving earth .
