Since the 1970s , Sugarloaf Citizens Association has worked to preserve and protect farming , open space , and rural life in Montgomery County ’ s Agricultural Reserve .
In the year ahead , we ' ll be urging Montgomery County officials to take more decisive steps to address the threats posed by climate change . The future of farming and our food supply depend on our actions today .

As a member of the “ it ’ s never too late to start ” club , Elizabeth Elgin began to study painting in her sixties . Over the years she has been juried into the Oil Painters of America , The International Guild of Realism , and the Miniature Painters , Sculptors and Gravers Society . She lives on a tree farm in the AG Reserve and says the clean air , the bounty of nature and the neighbors ’ horses keep her inspired . She paints in oils , acrylics and sometimes gouache , entering many art shows each year as well has painting commissions . She is sought after for her pet portraits in particular , but has also been commissioned to paint flowers , landscapes and seascapes . Her work can be seen at www . elizabethelgin . com .
