Spring ’ s Ancient

Longer days and warming sunlight give rise to the glorious hubbub of spring in the Reserve . Whether in streams and vernal pools , hives , forests , orchards , pasture ... things are happening . Spring in our region , as we all know , is not one season but rather a kaleidoscope , a crazy quilt of weather . For wildlife and Reserve farmers alike the season offers both hope and abundance of challenges . Ask any farmer ... they will tell you just that , but punctuate this truth with a reassurance that their devotion to place and pursuit carries them through each year . And for both veteran and novice farmers each returning season is a new lesson learned . Starting again each spring is an act of affirmation .
