difference in what is needed in the winter . Birdbaths are equally as important in the colder months as they are the hot ones . Especially dry winters , for no snow equals
no water ! Troy and I have put a plastic , heated birdbath out on our deck every winter for several years now , and we still cannot get over how many birds and other small animals we attract . It is phenomenal . It is possible to find fairly inexpensive heated baths , or heaters to put in existing water features for wildlife in many stores and online . I promise you if you put the effort of keeping melted water around , you will not be disappointed in the winter for the wildlife will show up !
But be forewarned : keeping birdbaths in either the winter or the summer is addictive . As soothing as watching a fish tank , watching a birdbath can be as good for the human soul as it is sustaining to wildlife . A statement as true as it is geeky and dorky , I realize . Don ’ t judge ! ( But do put out a birdbath !)
