UK’s Mount Kelly Opens its Second Babies
and Toddlers Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui:
Encouraging Curiosity in Early Childhood
B
ritish-based leading elite
school, Mount Kelly, opened
its second Babies and
Toddlers Centre (Playgroup)
in Tsim Sha Tsui in mid-October 2018
as part of its continuous expansion
plan to offer quality British early
childhood education in Asia.
With campuses in Tsim Sha Tsui and
Jordan (Yau Tsim Mong District), Mount
Kelly has two Babies and Toddlers
Centres, the International Preschool and
the Preparatory School and College
for students up to Year 8. Mount Kelly
students in Hong Kong are guaranteed
to progress from the Preparatory School
in Hong Kong through to the College in
the U.K.
Being an “all-through” school,
Mount Kelly welcomes children from
six months upwards to experience
British-style learning. The new Mount
Kelly Babies and Toddlers Centre

and Play Playgroup Programmes for
children aged between six months and
two years old, and a holistic Multiple
Intelligences Programme for children
between two and six years old.
Early years education at Mount
Kelly emphasises the importance
of British values and uses the Early
Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Curriculum as a basis for learning,
striving to empower pupils and to
generate excitement through play-
based learning. Senior Playgroup
Teacher of Mount Kelly Babies and
Toddlers, Ms Claire D’Cruz, says,
“Mount Kelly Babies and Toddlers
Stay and Play Programmes adopt
the British EYFS curriculum to meet
the specific needs of children and
parents in a Hong Kong setting.”
She adds, “During our programme
sessions we view each child and their
learning and developmental needs
as unique. We design the curriculum
and activities to foster the all-round
development of your child. Creativity
is a key component and we love to get
messy and develop our curiosity and
imagination through play.”
The new campus is fully equipped
with new facilities include a Creative Art
Area, Dramatic Play Area, Discovery Area,
Fun Play Area, Music & Movement Area,
Sensory Play Area, Reading Area and
Manipulative Play Area. High quality, non-
toxic and developmentally appropriate
resources are chosen with each individual
child and their development in mind. Like
the first Babies and Toddlers Centre,
which was established in March 2017,
the new campus aims to offer a unique
learning experience for every child through
play-based learning.
