Rather than learning by rote, learning at MSB is largely activity based, with children engaging with hands-on materials and independent projects. Frequency and Duration of Mandarin Classes: 50 minutes, 5 times per week. Age students begin to learn Mandarin as Second Language: 3 years old Mandarin Curriculum: MSB’s Chinese Department coordinates the Chinese language instruction for all children starting from the age of 3, focusing on literacy. Facilities: Art and music studios, children’s kitchens, libraries, science lab, gyms and the Coffee Shop; a refreshments area maintained by the school’s Parents’ Association. A separate multi-purpose hall contains a stage and indoor ball court. SEN Support: In the event that the school deems a child in need of additional assistance, MSB will work with the parents to provide the best care and support for their child. Additional needs include, but are not limited to: regular learning support, speech therapy, psycho-educational evaluation, a full-time shadow, etc. Accreditations: MSB is fully registered with the Chinese Ministry of Education Beijing Education Bureau. It has been in existence for over 25 years. MSB is an affiliate member of the American Montessori Society (AMS), which represents over 6,000 Montessori schools worldwide and oversees the MACTE Montessori educational standards on an international level.
