Description: Victoria Shanghai Academy (VSA) was the first through-train
IB world school in Hong Kong to offer the International Baccalaureate PYP,
MYP and DP programme. It is a private independent, non-denominational
co-educational day school for 1800 children aged 6-18. VSA’s bilingual
educational model is underpinned by the IB continuum of programmes
ensuring that VSA graduates not only have a strong sense of their Chinese
heritage but are also equipped to meet future challenges with 21st century
learning skills and international perspectives.

Mandarin Curriculum: During PYP, all of our students have one Mandarin
teacher and one English teacher. Lessons are co-taught to support dual
language immersion from Years 1 -5. Students are encouraged to use both
languages in both their written and oral communication throughout the
programme. During MYP, the language of instruction is English, with the
exception of Chinese Language and Literature and Chinese as Additional
Language classes.
Other Languages Available: French and Spanish.
Features: Students are encouraged to utilise the essential Approaches
to Learning (ATL) skills acquired and develop leadership qualities and
international-mindedness through running different projects or CAS
clubs and participate in CAS trips to different parts of the world. These
opportunities of various scales (local, national and global) also form an
important part of student learning at VSA as they enable them to develop
greater self-awareness, collaboration and perseverance.
Facilities: VSA has a state-of-the-art campus, with facilities including: a
secondary and a primary library which form the hub of student learning,
an indoor heated swimming pool, an outdoor amphitheatre, a gymnasium
and two outdoor pitches, an auditorium and several art, dance, drama
studios and music rooms, an Information Technology laboratory, a Design
Technology workshop and a spacious multi_purpose school hall.
