welcome
to the Autumn issue of Playtimes.
R
eturning to life after the summer break has been interesting. All of us – whether we were born in Hong Kong or
relocated here – are surely devastated by what is happening. While we don’t want to get political, we do want to
express our love for Hong Kong. The Playtimes team took time to think about all the things that makes it a special
place, for us. Check out our list on page 68 and let us know what
you love most about Hong Kong .
We’d love to get your thoughts and photos, too. One of the things I love most about Hong Kong is its contrasts—how you can
go from city to beach to jungle in such a short time.
And speaking of the Hong Kong jungle, for our fashion
shoot this issue (because we know how much our readers
love a fashion shoot) we took to the lush (read hot and sticky) trails around Mount Davis Road. I’d like to say a huge thank you
to models Sarana, Neev, Ariana, Zahra, Lucas and Alina. They were troopers and managed to keep smiling, even when the
mosquitos were biting. Also, a massive thanks to our talented photographer, Sharon Chong, who kept a sense of humour
throughout. We will share more on Instagram…
Autumn holds many celebrations in Hong Kong and is just the start of what becomes a long festive
also explore the very special occasion of what’s known as the One
season.
We
Hundred Day celebration . Do you know how
the tradition came about and what you should, or shouldn’t wear? Find out on page 24.
On a less positive note we also explore one of the top concerns of life in Hong Kong in our article about pollution, and
particularly how it is managed in schools. Many schools do now have air purifications systems , is your child’s
school one of them? We also recommend a few apps that can help monitor air quality levels. And back onto the positive, did
you know that you can compost your food waste in Hong Kong? Find out more on page 8.
We are excited to be back planning the content for the next few issues; we’ve got some informative and creative stuff coming
your way!
Until Winter,
