The Prodigal Son Returns
by Neil McDonald
I am switching gears a little for this issue. OK, switching gears considerably. This fall I made a pilgrimage of sorts to the region I was born and raised in. A friend, Kelly Sparks, had taken it upon herself to form a Facebook group for those of us from the 1970’s who had never really had a high school reunion. I don’t know the reasons, whether the civil unrest of the times or the war in Viet Nam, or what. Regardless, many of us had moved to other parts of the country and never returned. Others stayed behind and raised their families, and some returned to visit old friends over time, but a formal reunion of classes never materialized. Thanks to Kelly, that changed and the classes from the early to mid 70’s had our reunion finally.
