A QUINTESSENTIAL DIVA IN
THE MAKING
If I told you where I was when I had the idea for this magazine, none of you would belive me. The very next day I saw my gorgeous friend Emma at work, there and then I asked her to be my very first cover girl, to come with me on a journey of trying to change the world - she didn't hesitate to agree!
What can I say about Emma Mallen that doesn't already speak for itself? She's a real girl, living in the everyday world just like you reading this right now. She has her own dreams and ambitions in life, she eats the wrong foods and she loves purely. A girl who doesn't do things by half seemed like the perfect fit for the debut of a new glamour magazine - and boy was I right. The shoot was a perfect combination of girlishness and fun. We laughed, we gossiped and bounced ideas off each other to create something I had never done before.
The dress we chose to use from the cover is from the Autumn/Winter 2012 range by Quiz, in fact it's the dress Emma chose to wear for my birthday that year - we both fell in love with it when we found it. It's gorgeously form fitting as I'm sure you will agree and the draping sides just add a little sophisticated fun to an otherwise short dress. The attention to detailing is so fantastic that I reccommend every girl to purchase at least one Quiz dress for her wardrobe!
For the overall make-up I wanted to do something a little different and over-the-top as opposed to reserved and sexy. I took a quartz compact in shades of blue by Avon and set to work creating a pointed oval shape on the lid. I sketched the outline before filling in the middle with a pale blue and slightly blending them together. The inner corner I made as dark as the outline and lines the eyes with black. Emma applied her own mascara while I fiddled with hair before finishing the lips, cheeks and brows.
Still though something was missing, this is where Emma came up with the idea of lashes she uses when participating in dance competitions. She was right in her suggestion, they added the edge this look really needed and set off the outfit perfectly.
I love this girl as if she was my own sister, she is gorgeous, glamorous and just like each and every one of you out there. I am sure you can see why I chose her as my cover girl for Platform. She is a definitive style queen in the making with a fantastic eye for clothes, love of animal print and over-the-top glamour. Emma is by far my inspiration for this issue and I am proud to feature her as the main article. Quinessential and proud!
