Years later, the first synthetic plastic was derived from fossil fuels. The first synthetic materials were made in the 1800’s as celluloid & PVC. Leo Baekeland (Chemist) created the first real synthetic plastic in 1907, it was a key breakthrough because it was mass-produced. Half of all plastic ever manufactured have been made in the last 15 years Synthetic plastic have replaced materials like pewter, glass and ceramics, wood, rocks, and more. So the use of plastic is a variety: plastic containers, furniture, clothes, spray, and more. For plastics, the sky’s the limit! Synthetic plastic seem to last forever. It means that finished its main use, it can remains in a non-use state forever, without care it creates disposal problems or the plastics are added to the worldwide pollution.
