19 year-old Boyan Slat has created an Ocean Cleanup Array that could remove up to 7,250,000 tons o fplastic waste from the ocean! The device consists of many parts such as: floating booms and processing platforms that could be dispatched to garbage patches around the world. The array would span the radius of a garbage patch, acting as a giant funnel floating across the ocean. The angle of the booms would force plastic in the direction of the platforms, then the aray would separate plankton from floating debri or recycling.1
