What's gonna happen if we don't fix this??
If we don't clean up the mess in the pacific not only can tons of aquatic life diminish but this trash also damages boats and submarine equipment. It also litters beaches and stops people from swimming in those parts of the ocean. Animals that swim through this trash may end up digesting this garbage and pollutes their body. Eventually animals will become low in population almost to extinction.
Efforts to Solve Water and Coast Pollution:
In 2012, an engineering student and environmentalist developed an idea to clean up all debris from the oceans. Boyan Slat, 19 years old, came up with the idea of an ocean clean up array. His idea used booms and platforms instead of nets. This machine is predicted to collect up to 7,250,000 tons of trash every year.
