3 . PLANT DESCRIPTION :
General Features , Leaves , Flowers , Fruits
A tree with a decorative appearance , growing to a height of 50 m . Needle-like leaves grow on older branches in bunches of 25 – 60 on shortened branches , so-called brachyblasts that look like warts . On the young branches ( this year ' s ) soft light green needles grow individually in a spiral . They remain on the tree for only 1 growing season - they fall off in autumn . This single family coniferous tree is the only one of our conifers , which drop their leaves every year . Pine cones remain on the branches for up to 10 years .
