INNOVATION the Combo accepts feed from natural sand or crushed rock reserves, turning what is often considered as a waste by- product into a product that adds value to the business. CDE’s cyclonic technology allows for unrivalled cut point control. Fractions are precisely separated in the system to provide stockpiles with consistent, high quality material that is dry enough to be ready for market straight from the belts. The modular concept of the washing solution allows for the addition of screens to match predicted requirements for increased production – whether in terms of quantity or diversity. Dewatering screen technology CDE’s patented dewatering screen technology (Infinity D-Line) delivers washed sand that is ready for market straight from the belts, allowing operators to turn products into revenue as quickly as possible. A bolted design to remove all weld requirements in the construction of the side walls prolongs the working life of the screen. The design for which the patent was granted allows for increased thickness of the screen’s wide walls while reducing weight. Additional strength and support are provided where required, while weight is removed where it is not required. Infinity screens can generate the same acceleration as conventional screens with less weight, which results in a reduction in power consumption and reduces operational costs.  The focus on prolonging the working life of the screen is evident through the introduction of wear protection at every impact and transfer point. An example of this is a magnetic polyurethane wear plate on the top of the screen shaft, which not only protects the shaft but is quick and easy to replace, ensuring productivity targets are met.  Another design innovation within the Infinity Range is the development of new U-Span cast cross members which, in combination with the construction of the side walls, deliver higher specific stiffness that prolong the working life of the screen. The Infinity range utilises Rosta suspension units which deliver 98% vibration isolation ensuring protection for the supporting structure and the most efficient transfer of energy to the screening material.  Also, the use of GRP guards eliminates nip points while ensuring that the guards www.equipmentandhire.co.za can be removed quickly and re-fitted. This minimises the time required for essential plant maintenance and demonstrates the focus on understanding how operators will interact with the screen when it is on site. Water recycling Through tried-and-tested water recycling technology, the Combo significantly reduces water requirements by recycling up to 90% of the water used in the washing process. Intensive or systematic use of settling ponds can generate significant loss of revenue for operators and it is not uncommon for high value fines to remain trapped at the bottom of ponds. The use of ponds also requires the operator to factor in extra space on site and expect downtime while the material settles. The process of water recycling may seem simple in theory, but all water thickeners are not equal. Optimal efficiency depends on stringent attention to detail when designing the water management system that fits the exact requirements of the customer. The Combo allows customers almost total independence of water supply and requires a small supply of fresh water compared with traditional systems which require 10 to 15 times more water. The AquaCycle, which is an integral element of the Combo, allows for up to 90% of the used water to be recycled using a system dedicated to the removal of fine particles via flocculation and expulsion of sediments, formed by precipitation, into a settlement tank. Extra water is added to the treated water via a CDE AquaStore unit. This very limited amount of extra water serves to compensate the losses incurred due to residual moisture in the sand and sediments. The water is then sent immediately back towards the process, which functions almost as a closed system. The integrated flocculation station allows for precise dosing of the pre-mixed flocculant for efficient settlement. A single motor operates the rack arms of the AquaCycle for optimal treatment of the sediment prior to drainage. By maximising the settlement of solids, the water management system reduces the quantity of flocculent required as well as running costs and optimises the efficiency of the plant. By recycling up to 90% of the process water for direct re- use in the system, the need for settling ponds is reduced; with the addition of a filter press tailings management system, this figure increases to 95%, removing the need for settling ponds altogether. The reality of a fast return on investment becomes extremely tangible when an AquaCycle thickener is added to a washing operation. Stockpiling Integrated wing conveyors controlled by hydraulic cylinders enable unrivalled control of sand specifications as they allow for the conveyor to move across the screen to adjust the cut point or blend the sand directly on the conveyor to obtain an in- spec product. With this unique technology, operators can produce high-quality concrete and plaster sands at the same time, with no risk of cross-contamination. Plug-and-play Pre-wired and pre-tested before dispatch, it arrives on site ready to plug and play either as a standalone plant or as part of a larger turnkey solution and can start processing material within days. With all essential processes housed onto one compact chassis, the Combo system operates as one interconnected and pre-assembled unit which incorporates an integrated control panel with one single point of operation. This one-touch technology is designed for single-operator use and unrivalled ease- of-access for routine maintenance with its patented swivel access to the pump. Compact, convenient and practical The Combo is easy to move to multiple sites due to its small footprint and is well- suited to urban sites due to its compact nature. With the Combo, sand can also be produced closer to where concrete is required, resulting in significant cost savings in the transport of aggregates. In line with CDE’s ethos of ‘A New World of Resource’, the Combo offers a practical solution to the concerns of operators who need to juggle the delivery of high-quality construction sands versus stringent legislative requirements aimed at protecting the earth from further depletion of its natural sand reserves. Delivering unrivalled control of in-spec washed products from a wide range of feed materials, the Combo can be used in the construction, C&D waste recycling, industrial sands, mining and environmental sectors.
