To move the river sand , a Dezzi 25-tonne dumper is used , and to load and screen the sand , a newly introduced Dezzi TLB is being deployed . “ In Harding , we are using a Dezzi loader .” The first piece of Dezzi equipment was purchased two years ago : a 3500 wheel loader .
With barely constrained awe , Surendrasewprsadh says : “ It ’ s an absolute animal ; you must hear this thing , it ’ s like an absolute beast !” He continues , “ It ’ s gone past workhorse … and to be absolutely honest with you , I ’ d buy nothing else .”
So , what is the recipe ?

Dezzi ’ s ongoing success can be attributed to a passionate patriarch with a vision , offspring to carry the vision forward , and a supportive partner , Louise , by his side to weather the storms .
Founder Desmond Gutzeit ’ s passion for machines and construction in general saw him move from plant hire into equipment design . In a hugely competitive environment , he built his own ready-mix trucks , moving into bigger machines over the years . The drawing of the design for the
first Dezzi 1700 wheel loader is on a piece of cardboard , which now has a place of honour on the wall in the design / admin section .
He says with a chuckle , “ We have a saying in this company , ‘ Just bring the spots and we ’ ll make the guinea fowls ’.”
This passion has been picked up by his four sons who keep the flame burning , with each holding a managerial position within the company to ensure continuity in client relationships , productivity , and reputation .
Desmond and Louise , however , while moving into a ‘ back-office ’ position in the company , still have a ‘ hand on the tiller ’ and are there for conferencing and input when required .
MD Carl says that through re-investment into perfecting existing models , as well as developing a new model every 18 – 24 months , has seen the company grow into a local force to be reckoned with , taking a share of the OEM market for South Africa , and is now set to move into Africa .
In conclusion Desmond says : “ There will always be a place in the industry for a basic , good-quality , right-priced machine .”
And indeed , there will be , so Goliaths of the industry take note , Dezzi has arrived . ■
