Racheal Njoroge, managing director of Cummins Southern
Africa, shares the company’s vision of making
people’s lives better by powering a more
prosperous world.

ummins, a global power leader
and corporation of complementary
business units that design,
manufacture, distribute and service a broad
portfolio of power solutions, officially
launched its state-of-the-art premises in
the highly acclaimed business area of
Waterfall Logistics Precinct in Waterfall
City at the end of March – called the
Power Hub.
At the launch of the facility, Plant
Equipment & Hire (PEH) caught up
with Kenyan-born Racheal Njoroge (RN),
managing director of Cummins Southern
Africa, to chat with her about her history
with Cummins, her role as a ‘woman in
power’ and the future of powering on.

PEH: You’ve worked for Cummins for more
than 12 years. Can you give some background
on your journey with the company?
RN: I studied in the US and joined Cummins
right after obtaining my Master’s degree.
I joined as a summer intern in Columbus,
Indiana in May 2006. Soon thereafter, I was
promoted to business systems analyst,
working in the Distribution Processes &
Systems (DP&S). During this time, I also
led IT Functional Excellence efforts, IT
planning, Cummins Business Services
Usage Management activities and was the
Distribution Business Unit (DBU) champion for
PowerSweep III. In 2009, I earned the position
of global IT strategy and planning leader.
In April 2011 I joined the Africa Area
Business Organisation (ABO) as the ABO IT
leader. Here, I helped build the IT organisation
as a key business enabler. I then moved on
to develop the New Entities Execution and
Facilities Management function in January
2014. My focus was to build a dedicated
team to coordinate all new entity project
management and execution activities as well
as focus on the centralised management of all
real estate and facilities activities for Africa.
