Hyundai Construction Equipment Co. has seen a sharp rise in the sales of its
excavators in China this year, backed by a recovery in the construction sector, according to the Yonhap News Agency. According to industry sources, the company sold some 1 600 excavators in the first four months of the year, nearing last year’ s sales of 1 900 units in total. Demand for construction equipment has been on the rise in China due to increased infrastructure budget spending. The Chinese economy grew 6.9 % in the first quarter of 2017, higher than its estimated annual growth of 6.5 %. In the January – April period, a total of 52 000 excavators were sold in China, more than doubling from a year earlier, the sources said.
US-based Dust Control Technology, which pioneered atomised mist dust control cannons over a decade ago with its powerful DustBoss designs, has changed its name to BossTek to better reflect all of the company’ s successful product lines. These include the OdorBoss line of environmentally safe topical and airborne odour suppression treatments, and the KoolBoss crowd cooling technology for large outdoor events.“ Over time, we began to realise that we were not simply a supplier of dust suppression equipment, but rather a solutions provider with the expertise to address a much wider range of applications,” says BossTek president Laura Stiverson.“ These new segments of our business are growing far beyond our initial expectations, and our updated company name more accurately reflects the firm’ s commitment to the expanding needs of our customers.”
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has installed a new 17 000t forging press— the world’ s largest to date— at the forging plant of its manufacturing complex in Changwon, South Gyeongsang province in South Korea. The new press is 29m tall and 9m wide, and can forge steel ingot with the strength equivalent of 240 000 men pressing on the metal at the same time. Doosan Heavy Industries had been working on the development of the press since 2014, applying its own proprietary technologies and experience acquired from years of making cast and forged materials for large-scale power projects. Doosan also expanded the size of its forging plant by nearly 34 % to 73 748m ² for the new large-scale machine, which replaced the existing 13 000t forging press that was operated for the past 35 years. The company’ s forging plant is now capable of producing 80 000t of forged materials a year.
