They show up in your financials, and they affect your decisions.
Manufacturing is a business where the details matter enormously. Yield rates, equipment uptime, supplier terms, labor efficiency— these aren ' t abstract concepts. They show up in your financials, and they affect your decisions.
When evaluating advisors, ask direct questions: Have you worked with manufacturers before? Do you understand how production variability affects my numbers? Can you help me model what happens to my margins if I increase volume by 30 percent?
And just as importantly, make sure your advisory team talks to each other. Your accountant should understand your banking relationship. Your attorney should know your insurance coverage. When major decisions arise— like an expansion— bring them together for a strategic conversation rather than consulting them in silos.
Growth Is Good. Smart Growth Is Better.
Expansion is a milestone worth celebrating. It means your products are in demand, your operations work, and customers want more of what you ' re making.
But the manufacturers who scale successfully are the ones who take time to understand what growth will really cost— and who build a team around them that can pressure-test those assumptions.
The goal isn ' t to slow down your ambitions. It ' s to make sure your growth is sustainable, your margins are protected, and your next chapter is built on solid ground.
