“ A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.”

PLA understands the importance of a mentorship program for teachers new to education or new to PLA ultimately resulting in PLA having all effective and highly effective educators educating our scholars. This program begins for a school during year 2 of partnership with PLA.

5. Make time to meet biweekly

6. Provide observations for mentees and give meaningful feedback/support

Mentee Roles and Responsibilities:

1. To view the Mentor Program as an opportunity for professional growth and a great way to learn the PLA way

2. Participate in observation experiences with mentor and apply feedback in your classroom

3. To work cooperatively with mentor, meet biweekly, identify areas where support is appropriate

4. To complete check-ins by participating and collaborating on the Mentor Program Blog

Mentor Roles and Responsibilities:

Leaders are expected to:

1. Provide the names of possible mentors

2. Support the pairing of mentors and mentees

3. Provide new teachers with all the resources necessary for their role

4. Provide PD specifically for new staff

5. Provide teachers with classroom coverage during Mentor Program
