As we welcome new staff members after the school year has already begun and all the intitial training has happened, it is so important that we give them a successful start. Do NOT place them in the classroom with scholars on their first day and ideally not their second day either. Rather, be prepared to welcome them and have an onboarding schedule for them to meet with a variety of team members that they will work closely with over the course of the year.

Suggestions for the Onboarding Schedule:

1. Welcome from the principal (Share the staff and family handbooks)

2. Tour (Share evacuation plan)

3. Meeting with admin and get set up in the SIS

4. Meeting with the dean or climate culture person in the building to

understand and get set up LiveSchool

5. Meeting with the instructional coach and get set up on testing sites and

lesson planning template/expectations

6. Meeting and lunch with a teammate

7. Provide a welcome package of "Getting Started Supplies"

8. Time to set up classroom

Get to know your new team member with a Strengths Interview! Have both the manager and the new team member complete the questions and then share to get to know one another!
