As leaders go into a performance review window, it is important that you review these 6 rater biases when reviewing employees.

The Halo Effect

strong rating in one section, so you lean towards mimicking it for another section

The Central Tendency

rating in the middle of the road

The Leniency Effect

rating based on the notion of what you feel they "meant to do"

The Similarity Effect

rating based on the likelihood of past performance as their present performance

Consistency/Confirmation

seeking evidence based on your impression vs. fact and observation

Context Effect

giving a rating based on overall school observations vs. solely on the teacher
