What are the cons?

Poor pay and long hours.

How did being a prosecutor influence your present life?

I brought the experiences to my practice as in-house counsel for a major insurance carrier

What is the most difficult thing you experienced during the course of your law career?

I became acquainted with a woman, recently divorced who was being harassed by her ex-husband. While prosecuting him for those acts I asked the judge hearing those cases to revoke the defendant's bond. He refused, and the defendant murdered the woman a week later. After successfully prosecuting him for her murder. I met with their minor children who were going to be raised by their grandparents. Telling them that the only remaining parent would spend life in prison was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

What advice would give to someone looking to pursue a career in this field?

To try an internship with a public Defender or Prosecuting attorney’s office to ensure that this is the right carrier for them. As with any carrier, do what you love.

If you could go back in time would you choose the same profession based on your experiences?

Of course; without hesitation.

It would be silly of me to let an opportunity such as getting to interview Mr. Sauls get past me. His past profession couldn’t have fit more perfectly into our topic. This interview was quite interesting and I learned almost as much as I heard about the career path. The way he went into some detail and then left suspense it makes me think I might want to try that line of work. In conclusion, Gene Sauls was a fantastic person to interview and this all fit perfectly with our topic.
