would claim me. I didn’t belong to the far left ‘Libtards’ and I didn't belong to the far right ‘Male Patriarchy.’ The example above shows another encounter with a peer. He was so gung ho about defending the actions of Trump, that he was willing to dismiss the facts behind the context. Even though I pointed out that Trump had shifted his focus, I would still be the target of harassment from both groups. This type of rhetoric is dangerous and irresponsible. These encounters appeared so often that I had become a product of the toxic environment created by the election. I had zero confidence in a Trump presidency, but I was relieved it was finally over. After years of our society being divided, there was no more debate and Trump had won. Fortunately for me, many people stopped caring about politics and what I had to say about what mattered to me or what I believed because they didn't feel like they were in control anymore. I’m glad that I went through these moments and came out a stronger person. I feel like my arguments have become stronger and I have been able to process information with an educated view. It’s a time in my life that I wouldn’t want to have any other way.
