written by one of the officers that said “Sir, your check was paid for by the police officers you didn’t want to sit next to, thank you for your support.”

I bet the couple felt like an absolute buffoon. In the end, another couple appreciated the police and thanked them for their service. This story became viral and when officer Chuck Thomas was interviewed he said “Essentially the whole goal of it was to let them know that we’re not here to hurt you, we’re here to serve you, we work for the public and we just wanted to better the relationship between the community and the police” This story really shows the good in police and shows hope for good cops.

Another act of good and kindness by the police occurred in Fort Myers, Florida. A man named Arnold was on a ceased electronic wheelchair stranded in the middle of the street in a harsh, rainy and lightning storm. This man was noticed by officer Gil Benitez who at the time was the officer on duty for that area during the storm. Officer Benitez was captured by the camera mounted on the police squad car. The officer stepped out of the car into the harsh storm and pushed Arnold all the way home. The officer dried him up and waited until his family came home. Arnold said that all he had was a broken wheelchair, an umbrella, and his phone. Officer Benitez refused to be praised with act of heroism claiming that he was only doing his job. I know some officers that would never have done anything like this, Officer Benitez

could’ve chosen not to help as it is not required. This proves that some officers are not in it for the fame, they are simply doing their job and making the connection of the community a better place.

These stories are only the few out of many more. There are hundreds if not thousands of other stories involving a good cop or a good act by the police. As you can see not all cops are bad, they are not only here to arrest and put people in jail, they are also here to help you in certain problems you encounter like having a flat tire.
