Family Engagement Opportunities
As part of the Head Start model, families participate in home visits and family conferences throughout the year. These visits support strong partnerships between home and school and provide opportunities for families and staff to work together to support children ' s learning and development by setting shared goals.
PK STEAM families participate in family conferences and may engage in additional home-school partnership opportunities throughout the year.
Family Partnership Process
Head Start families work with Family Advocates to develop Family Partnership Agreements that identify family strengths, interests, goals, and available supports. This collaborative process helps families access resources, build on strengths, and work toward goals that are important to them.
Family Advocates are available throughout the year to support family well-being, connect families with resources, and assist with achieving family identified goals.
Family Engagement Opportunities
Families may choose to participate in a variety of engagement opportunities, including:
• Classroom volunteering
• Family learning events
• Home-school initiatives
• Workshops and trainings
• Family celebrations and events
• Leadership and advisory opportunities
Participation is voluntary, and families are encouraged to engage in ways that are meaningful and accessible to them.
Family Literacy Engagement
Families play a critical role in children ' s literacy development. SELC encourages families to engage in reading, storytelling, singing, conversation, and other language-rich experiences at home.
Throughout the year, SELC provides literacy-focused resources, activities, and engagement opportunities designed to strengthen home-school connections and foster a love of reading and learning.
Eaglet Family Connection( EFC) All families with children enrolled at SELC are members of the Eaglet Family Connection( EFC).
