The mission of CIRI, a corporation in Alaska, is “to promote the economic and social well-being and Alaska Native heritage of our shareholders, now and into the future, through prudent stewardship of the company’s resources, while furthering self-sufficiency among CIRI shareholders and their families.”

Working to better the lives of the Native peoples of Alaska, CIRI reports its work to its shareholders, including the Youth Representative on CIRI’s Lower 48 and Hawaii Shareholder Participation Committee, PJP'S own Madeline Mulcahey, ’19. In October, Madeline participated in the annual meeting of the shareholders of CIRI in Alaska. While fully sitting in the sessions, Madeline introduced a proposal to preserve the stories of the elders of the community. Her proposal was adopted by the membership.

Congratulations to Madeline for her service!

CSC, in an effort to "build community within the community", has made one of its goals this year to help our international students feel more connected to the PJP family. One piece of this effort is the "Panther  Pals  (Pizza Party)." Panther Pals is a way for new, international PJP students and American PJP students to gain new friends. Every new international student was paired up with a member of PJP’s Community Service Corps; together, they will become Panther Pals! What do Panther Pals do? They teach each other about their culture, talk about school and life, and have fun together. We hope to have one fun social event every month. The first party on November 11 was a huge success. The Panther Pals played board games, ate pizza, played football and soccer, and had an all-around great time. together. One Panther Family!
