PJP's own Tommy Quinn '18, became a two-time National Champion at the USA Track Cycling Elite and Junior National Championships in July. Tommy bested a field of thirty-seven riders from across the nation to take Gold medals in both the 500 meter Time Trial and the Match Sprint events of the competition. He also went on to win the Silver medal for the Overall Omnium of the Championship. Next summer he will be competing for a spot to represent the United States at the Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong, China. Go, Tommy!

Congratulations to the PAC Champions!
October 11, 2016…second day of districts…the 18th hole…four teammates waiting, watching, hoping…the only way to move on to regionals is with a birdie…PRESSURE…John (J.T.) Spina stands over his ball and remembers what his coach for the past 13 years, his father, has taught him, “Don’t get too technical, know the feel.” J.T. swings with all his past training and knowledge and smacks that ball within three inches from the cup. His teammates, coaches, parents, and spectators went WILD…with that one stroke and a season of hard work, J.T.’s shot secured the district win to allow him to accomplish things that have never been done in the school’s seven year history.
What happened on October 11th defines what happens on many of our PJP sports teams; success of the program overshadows individual need. This spirit and passion continued with J.T. He stayed focused and took all of his positive energy into regionals with him. J.T. placed second in regionals, which qualified him for States. He played against the best and most talented golfers in the state and walked away with third place, a junior behind the first and second place seniors. He was nominated 1st Team-All League and 1st Team-All Area, for all three years that he has played at PJP.
J.T. proves that hard work and passion can make all of your dreams come true. He practices each and every day. J.T. not only finds success on the course, but also in the classroom. He is a member of our National Honor Society, Community Service Corps, Conspiracy Theory Club, Respect Life Club, Ministry Team, the Spring Musical, and a Student Ambassador. His goal is to play division one golf in college and graduate with a business degree.
J.T. is a great example of a Pope John Paul II High School student athlete. He lets his passion for his sport drive him both on the course and in the classroom.
Go, Tommy!

Congratulations to these teams and all of the CYO participants! PJP would like to thank our tournament sponsor, BSN Sports, for a very successful inaugural tournament. Happy New Year!
Ready, set, go! The expansion of the athletic department is a natural step for a growing school. Currently, the department is hoping to add a varsity level swim team for the 2017-18 school year, and we have begun discussions about adding varsity level ice hockey and boys volleyball. As our numbers increase, there will also be additional opportunities to participate on the varsity level through JV B and freshman teams. This expansion may even reach the club level for sports like rugby.
PJP is ready and set to launch its intramural program in mid-January. The 6 week winter program will run a regular and postseason in the sports of basketball and volleyball. With more than 90% of students participating in extracurricular activities, the administration is confident that the program will take off and be successful. A spring session is set to be offered for another 6 weeks in mid-April. Ultimately, PJP wants to offer the maximum amount of opportunities for our students to be active, and most importantly have fun.
