These references are just some of the many sources available and each may offer useful data , if that data supports evaluation of a supply chain risk you care about and plan to use to drive your decision making . Figuring out which risks are the most important and practical for making decisions , as discussed in the next section , is key to helping determine which sources of data will best address the risks you will be assessing .
There are many other sources of supply chain security data , as shown in Figure 4-1 . One important thought to contemplate is whether you want a supplier organization to be aware that you are assessing the risks about them , their offerings , and services . Passive / In-direct information sources are shown in the top branches of Figure 4-1 , whereas the Active / Direct engagement approaches are shown in the lower branches .
