Impact
In November 2009, a group of
Chassidic parents, Brooklynites, allowed
themselves to envision a new educational
paradigm for their children. Choosing
the name “Lamplighters Yeshivah” to
encapsulate and communicate Judaism’s
“why” in education -- to brighten the
world one soul at a time -- they set out
to combine Judaism’s powerful message
of individual purpose and potential
with the latest cutting edge methods in
individualized education.
Lamplighters Yeshivah opened its
doors in the Autumn of 2010 with an
inaugural class of 12 boys, ages three
to five, and grew to house over 140
students including preschool, boys
and girls elementary schools, and a
high school prototype. Bolstered by
rigorous behavioral science analytics, a
Jewish curriculum utilizing Montessori
learning designs, and the development
and refinement of a fully-customizable
model of education that addresses
the needs of every child, the school is
regarded as a model for peer institutions
of all types nationwide.
