March is “Women’s History Month”, a month
dedicated to the progression of humanity and the empowering
of a female. It is a month dedicated to the ideals of feminists and
the history of what women have done to assist men in making the
world a much better place. March celebrates equal treatment between all genders. It’s a month that appreciates women that have stood up to men, the women who demanded the right to vote, and the women who knew they were entitled to lead a life of their own. The people the month of March is dedicated to, feminists, do not just believe in the privileges of women contrary to common belief, but believe in the privileges of both women and men. For now, we can only hope that all people will be more educated on the topic of equality and how people deserve to be seen as humans, not objects — as well as how women and men are not here just to please one another. Unfortunately, there are still signs that the belief that women do not deserve the same treatment as men — also known as “sexism” or misogyny” — is still alive and thriving in the United States of America, and the rest of the world. Women in most jobs are paid an average of twenty-two cents less than men who do the same exact job*. But with education, hopefully, one day the world can blossom with the new global knowledge that everyone is entitled to be their own self, and that they do in fact deserve equality.
March is also the first official month of Spring, and with the season of Spring comes the belief of both renewal and life. Because of these elements, so many people around the world have deemed Spring their favorite season. Besides those elements, one of the most noticeable traits of spring are clear blue skies, green fields, and the blooming of magnificent flowers of all colors, just like how we — the human race — are of all “colors”. The characteristics shared between people and flowers are obvious to artists and writers of all kind; including William Shakespeare, a cherished writer in the Elizabethan era. In his globally known and praised play, “Romeo and Juliet”, in Act II Scene II (also known as the balcony scene), Juliet calls out to Romeo, then saying "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". This meant that Juliet did not care what Romeo’s last name was, and that she knew he would be beautiful and someone she loved anytime and everytime. There are countless other writers who have used flowers to describe someone they love, someone delicate, or someone they intend to destroy. Humans are like flowers because they all of them are beautiful, and even after the worst moments, they’ll come back. Some will die off after the harsh winters, but even some will make it because they endure the pain. Humans are like flowers after winter. They blossom and are even prettier in the end. Spring is the promise that life will make for you — if you can survive the sadness, you will be rewarded with warm sun. Life is worth living, and that is a promise and statement that we, Pinnacle, can and will prove to you.
