PB : Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with me tonight .
CC : It ’ s no problem at all .
PB : You are an amazingly talented musician ! Where did you learn to play guitar like that ?
CC : Thanks for saying that , it means a lot . I was a classically trained pianist but most of my practice came from singing to records like zeppelin and deep purple . Back then , I only played a mean air guitar but I practice a ton of guitar now . My favorite part of practice is guitar theory on the les paul .
PB : Who are your biggest musical influences ?
CC : I think that my biggest rock influences are ; Deep Purple , Led Zeppelin , Queen , and Guns and Roses ; but if you ’ re looking for more current influences I would have to say ; Matt Anderson , Matt Mays , and Big Sugar .
PB : How did you get started in this industry ? What was your first gig ?
CC : I started giggin with my first band Molotov cocktail . I was still playing a lot of originals back then but it was mixed with a lot of covers like ACDC and Metallica . Then I moved to Hali , started up Stone Mary , and lately I ’ ve been focusing my attention on my solo gig .
PB : How did you meet up with Stone Mary , and how long have you been together ?
CC : Brad Stevens , the bass guitarist and I , actually met through a mutual friend . Then eventually we found Alex McDonald to play lead guitar and Matt Johnson to play drums . We ’ ve been together about 4 years now and we ’ re still rockin .
PB : Who has been your favorite person to work with ?
CC : There are too many great people to try and pick a favorite . However I think my favorite experience would have to be when I was on the candy show . Candy Palmater is definitely one of my favorite people . I got to see her comedy routine and we became friends . She is awesome and funny as balls !
PB : You recently released a solo album . What made you decide to start a solo career ?
CC : I really wanted to try something different and show people that there is another side to me . I ’ ve written a lot of songs in my life , but not all of them are suited for a louder than life rock band . This solo album has given me an opportunity to showcase more of my softer songs . I ’ m still going to be rocking hard with Stone Mary ! Rock is who I am and who I ’ ll always Be . But I also have a softer , more bluesy side that was screaming to come out .
