DEE aND DEbS
‘Terry, Debs’ father,
said very touching
words welcoming
Dee into the family...’
This Is My Lovely Day by George Guetary – a piece of music
that had been played at Debs’ parents’ wedding. Her mother
still knows all the words! Our guests included Debs’ aunt Sally
who had come all the way over from Nashville with her son
and grandson to celebrate with us – a lovely surprise as she is
in her 80s and not in the best of health.
We had simple modern vows and Debs’ best friend did a
reading, including a beautiful poem by Kahlil Gilbran.
O
ur reception was a lovely summer afternoon in
the Claremont Hotel garden with ‘Rowlf the
dog’ playing piano for us. Our talented friend
Mark Inscoe sang a medley of Italian-themed
songs, as our honeymoon was three weeks in
Italy. Terry, Debs’ father, said very touching words welcoming
Dee into the family and wishing us a happy future together
and Dee’s best friend Julie gave a very heartfelt and warm
speech. Later on we had a great DJ playing loads of our
favourite music, and a lovely buffet till the end of the night,
until we collapsed in our hotel room.
We had so much great feedback from our guests. Everyone
from all different parts of our lives blended together so well
and had such a lovely time. There was particular praise for
Rowlf in his costume... it’s not often you have a dog playing
the piano so brilliantly. Our little dog Dillie joined the fun by
running around the garden with a handmade bandana on,
which read ‘I'm the bloody bridesmaid’.
Guests loved our wedding cake, which was literally a
cheesecake; lots of layers of different cheeses, which after the
ceremonial cutting, guests tucked into until the end of the
night – very useful for soaking up the alcohol!
