Spring / Summer FaShion
LAID-BACK STYLE
This season men’ s fashion is easy on the eye. Luxury Life International’ s James W Phillips picks out your wardrobe essentials …
WITH SUMMER FAST APPROACHING and the season hotting up already, our minds turn to fashion and what we will wear this year. With so many options before our eyes on Instagram and in magazines, the choices can be overwhelming – and where to start can be a little daunting. But fear not, help is at hand.
The best advice I can give you is keep it simple. Think of the colour wheel – and for those of you who never took GCSE art, then check it out on Google – and keep those colours subtle and matching!
Let’ s break it down for those main occasions, whether it’ s a wedding, a trip to the shops or to your favourite restaurant.
The trend I am seeing for the summer wedding in the tailors of London are three-piece linen suits. Mix and match – there’ s no need for matching trousers and waistcoats – and mix it up with pastel tones, houndstooth fabrics and a standout pocket square and tie.
Take inspiration from our Italian friends and the new season trends seen at Pitti Uomo this year. But choose
carefully – gone are those’ 90s pinks and bright colours. Embrace the double monk strap shoe in brown. Check out my favourite tailors, Suitsupply. com.
For that casual, gritty look, the biker style is still number one. The black biker jacket will always be a staple piece in my wardrobe but don’ t just stick with black. Consider washed out, worn-look browns, a white T, skinny faded jeans and a pair of biker boots. I always go for Red Wing.
The Yeezy phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down, with new styles being released, but prepare to dig deep as these are not cheap! Fear not, so many other styles of sneakers continue to be in vogue on Instagram – from Adidas to Nike there’ s a lot to choose from – but keep it tasteful and contemporary and keep those sneakers clean!
Skinny jeans, a simple T or a long sleeve full button polo or denim shirt, a white crisp fitted shirt with a blue V-neck jumper over your shoulders is perfectly acceptable for a trip to the restaurant and to the shops, but don’ t stray too far down the road of ripped jeans for that special evening out. Keep it smart with a pair of loafers and definitely keep those socks at home!
