Bristol City Council. That said, today it is a beautifully
restored Georgian grade two listed building with gorgeous
oak panelled rooms, and it was perfect for a stylish wedding
ceremony. The invites were handwritten in proper ink on
Smythson stationery – Andi being one of the dying breed
that still uses a traditional fountain pen!
either of us had ever had a made-to-
measure suit, so we both decided to have
them tailored when we were in Hong Kong
earlier in the year. We did also both manage
to wear something old, our suits for
something new, something borrowed and
something blue. Our suits were made from lightweight
silver-grey Hugo Boss material and not only did we wear
them for the wedding, but they were also ideal for a
fabulous day out to Royal Ascot a few weeks later.
Andi loves creating surprises for other people, and the
wedding was no exception. As a special treat, he booked the
Bentley a few days before the ceremony to take us into
town. For that short time, we both felt a million dollars –
especially in our lovely handmade suits.
Our ceremony followed the standard ‘civil partnership to
wedding conversion’ model, but we did read special pieces
that we’d written for each other. They felt personal and at
one point we both got quite choked reading them, but it
was the right thing to do.
We put together four tracks that were played as we
entered for the ceremony, during the signing of the
documents, and as we all left together. All the songs had the
theme of love or the word love in the title, and as we left the
room we had Love is all I have to give, sung by Jane McDonald
