Autumn/Winter FAshion
RED HOT TO PARTY!
Tis the season, so light up the room…
Monsoon
This season is all about the luxe look. Forget prints,
if it’s soft and strokeable then it’s bang on trend.
Feathers, fur (fake, of course), and creamy pearls
are everywhere. Make those feathers Marabou,
the fur thick and floor-length and hang your
granny’s pearls long. At CHANEL we had
sumptuous shearling, PRADA was all
about tactile textures, and CALVIN KLEIN
coated everything in plastic to give that
ultimate sheen. And of course, it’s party
season so gold, silver and lamé are as
hot as ever.
House of Fraser
But if there’s one colour
that’s dominant right now
it’s red, red, red. Wear it top
to toe as seen at GIVENCHY,
FENDI and FERRETTI. In fact,

Givenchy’s whole collection
was dedicated to this, the
warmest of colours. Just make
sure you mix up those shades of red and contrast with a
snap of blue or green. The best thing about red? It suits
every skin tone going. So go red or dead.
River Island
Shoes-wise it’s all
about the bling. Think
diamanté, lamé and
anything that sparkles
and shines. If you’ve
been hankering after
mirrored cowboy
boots then check out
ISABEL MARANT. But
if you prefer your
twinkle a bit more
low-key then silver
Chelsea boots are all
over the high street
this season.
‘When it
comes to
bags, go
large or
go home...’
To accessorise, wear drop
earrings in diamond if
you’re that kind of
woman or, for the rest of
Wallis
us, diamanté. Belts are
wide and black or long
and skinny as seen at MIU MIU. But whatever way you go,
cinch in the waist of your dress. And make sure that dress
trails the floor.
When it comes to bags, go large or go home. Forget last
season’s mini-bags. Think big and think hold-all. In keeping
with the luxe trend it’s all about butter-soft leather and
intricate stitching. Just make sure the leather is silver, of
course. Or better yet, forget leather and go for chainmail as
seen at CHRISTOPHER KANE.
So get embossed and embellished and you’ll be full-on
glamour, full-on trend and full-on ready to celebrate this
party season.
