REVIEW
SUNDARA KARMA LOVEBLOOD EP
The EP kicks off with title track
'Loveblood: a four minute ode to
a mystery woman. We're greeted
by the band's signature chugging
guitar riffs like an old friend, yet
the tempo and melodic vocals on
the track are a welcome surprise. Springsteen inspired 'Olympia'
takes this Reading based
four piece down a different
route, slowing the tempo and
mellowing the tone in a tune
that would not be out of place
in an 80's romance movie
soundtrack.
This may be an odd move for
a band more famous for their
head bangers, however Olympia
beautifully proves they're not
just one hit wonders.
Loveblood is an infectious hit of
good old fashioned indie rock
n'roll, with the lyrics providing a
more sophisticated edge. 'Lost in
the way she says my name'
vocalist Oscar Lulu croons, and
before you know it you're well
and truly under his spell. 'She Said' is, despite countless
previous listens, the one we've
all been waiting for. This punchy
track speeds its way through
each catchy chorus and toe
tapping melody before well and
truly lodging itself in your brain
to be played over and over again.
Everyone's new favourite band
Sundara Karma are back with
their third EP. Entitled Loveblood,
this five song wonder will leave
you feeling breathless.
An instant indie anthem She
Said is powerful, made to be
shouted along to no matter the
time or place - a short but sweet
ride on the very best Sundara
Karma have to offer.
Another track deserving of larger
crowds and venues than Sundara
Karma currently have under their
belt 'A Young Understanding'
carries the same anthemic vibe
previous tracks have held so
well. With a beat that makes
you want to jump headfirst into
a mental crowd, it's no surprise
that this mix of
exciting guitar work and
pumping bass has received
critical acclaim for a band that
are still only in their teens.
Final song 'The Night' rounds
off the EP in the perfect way
- combining everything that
makes Sundara Karma stand
out within the indie circuit. An
injection of sunshine inspired
dream pop solidifies the bands
diversity and ability to cover a
range of styles- a sure-fire route
to success in an ever-changing
musical climate. Hazy guitars
and a laid back bassline are
reminiscent of beach babes and
California haze in a track that'll
keep you warm this winter.
