What is the
Pinal County
Joint Land
Use Study?
The Pinal County Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) is
a collaborative land use planning effort between
the Arizona National Guard (AZNG), neighboring
communities, state and federal agencies, the
public, and other affected stakeholders to
identify and address compatibility issues. It
is funded by a grant from the Department of
Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA).
The JLUS effort can directly benefit the AZNG,
Pinal County and other participants by:

B SILVERBELL
ARMY HELIPORT
C RITTENHOUSE
TRAINING SITE
D PICACHO PEAK
STAGEFIELD
Protecting the health and safety of
surrounding residents and workers;
Preserving long-term land use compatibility
between the AZNG and the surrounding
communities;
Promoting community planning that
addresses compatibility issues; and
Enhancing cooperation between the AZNG
and community officials.

The Pinal County JLUS project area encompasses
the region surrounding the four AZNG
installations and training sites of Florence
Military Reservation, Rittenhouse Training
Site, Silverbell Army Heliport, and Picacho
Peak Stagefield; as well as the surrounding
communities of the Towns of Florence, Marana,
and Queen Creek; the City of Eloy; and other
land managed by organizations such as the
Arizona State Land Department and Bureau of
Land Management.
