Pilot
Pilot is part of the Aircrew Profession within the RAF alongside that of Weapon Systems Officer( WSO) and Weapon Systems Operator( WSOp).
Professions in the RAF are distinct areas of defence expertise where common skills and attributes are required to deliver on demand. Service Personnel may be employed in any of the specialisations within their Profession depending upon the Service need, but will take into account the aptitude, qualifications and career aspirations of our personnel.
As a Royal Air Force front-line Pilot you might fly the A400M Atlas, F-35B Lightning II, Typhoon FGR4, Voyager KC2 / KC3, C17 Globemaster III, E-7 Wedgetail, P-8A Poseidon, Shadow R1, RC-135W Rivet Joint, CH-47 Chinook, Augusta 109, Bell 412 Griffin or MQ-9B Protector RG1 Remotely Piloted Air System( RPAS) delivering Royal Air Force capability around the world.
The roles of our Pilots are as varied as the aircraft; in the training role, they also fly Tutor, Prefect, Phenom, Juno, Jupiter, Texan T1 and Hawk T2, plus in the public display role the Hawk T1, Hurricane, Spitfire, Lancaster, Dakota and Chipmunk.
