“Each One of You Also Must Love His Wife as He Loves Himself, and the Wife Must Respect Her Husband” - Ephesians 5:33 (NIV) The Wellness Committee in partnership with the Family Counseling Ministry presented a video conference every Saturday during the month of May that was well attended and enjoyed by everyone who came. The presentation was based on the book “Love and Respect” by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. During the conference, we learned that the Love and Respect connection is the key to any problem encountered in marriage, dating and friendships. Dr. Eggerichs showed us that the ability for a couple to meet the need for love and the need for respect has EVERYTHING to do with the kind of marriage they will have. The conference offered something for everyone who attended: people in marital crisis, spouses headed for divorce, husbands and wives in a second marriage, people wanting to stay happily married, spouses married to unbelievers, divorcees trying to heal, lonely wives, browbeaten husbands, spouses in affairs, victims of affairs, engaged couples, pastors and counselors looking for material to save marriages, singles looking for permanent relationships, single parents raising opposite gender children. As promised, the conference has given every attendee more self-awareness about the different methods of communication, which will help heal relationships moving forward. We thank everyone who attended and we pray that your home and your relationships were ENCOURAGED and BLESSED by your participation. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Sister Janyce Prothro for her support and assistance with the Love and Respect Event. God blessed us with great attendance and great interest, so we are planning to host additional events on relationships. In Fall 2013, our committee will present a video conference with an emphasis on SINGLE PERSONS and, in 2014, we are planning to offer follow ups to Love & Respect so keep an eye out for announcements of future events. The members of the Wellness Committee and the Family Counseling Ministry are available to any member of the congregation who has a desire for individual or family prayer, for consultation about relationships, or simply for someone to listen. WE ARE HERE TO SERVE so please feel free to contact any of us if you need help—the list of the Wellness Committee members can be found on the back cover of this newsletter. God Bless You All! 5
