2015 Rewind: Glencoe produced another strong campaign in 2015. The Yellow Jackets finished 9-2, runner-up to state champion Piedmont in Class 3A, Region 6, and lost to state semi-finalist Colbert County for their other loss.
Key Losses: Glencoe lost as much talent and experience as any team in East Alabama from 2015. In addition to the loss of Head Coach Lee Ozmint to Oxford, the Jackets graduated his son Pace( an All-State and Pigskin Roundup All-Star), linemen Jeff Ford, Luke Long, Trevor Owens, and Bailey Britt, linebacker Noah Hauk, and quarterback Chase Wilson.

quarterbacks this year. Offensive and defensive linemen that will be counted on are Dawson Bass( 6’ 2, 250 Jr.), Dakota Cobb, and Coleman Morris. Davis says the defense will a“ no name defense”, but the anchor is linebacker Bradley Scott( 6’ 0, 205). Senior receiver T. J. Wuelfel has great speed and hands and is a name to watch.
Players to Watch: The Bush twins will be a big part of the small core of returnees for Glencoe this season. Seniors Austin and Aaron Bush( both 5’ 10, 160) have great speed and vision. Austin will play at running back and safety and Aaron will start at receiver and safety. 6’ 3, 200 lb. Senior Cole Holbrooks will be the Yellow Jackets new starting QB. Jacob Amberson will be the back-up, but new Head Coach Rusty Davis advises that he may play two
2016 Roundup: Coach Davis believes Glencoe lost more talent than any other school in the region, but says his team is working hard and is buying in to what Davis and his staff are doing. Davis states that the defense will be good and is way ahead of the offense at this point. With the loss of 16 seniors and only three starters back on both offense and defense, quality depth will be an issue with lots of two-way players.

HOKES BLUFF EAGLES
Class, Region: Class 4A, Region 5 Head Coach: Mike Robertson
2015 Record: 2-8 2015 Playoffs: None
2015 Rewind: Hokes Bluff struggled to a 2-8 final mark in the always tough Class 4A, Region 6 race. The Eagles won 2 of the first 3 before meeting up with 5 eventual playoff teams in the final 7 games.
Key Losses: The Eagles lost 6 starters on offense and 5 on defense from last season. Key losses included lineman Bradley Pruett and fullback Trey Hutchins.
Players to Watch: Though the Bluff lost some numbers from last year, they also have a great deal of experience returning. There is also some great young talent coming along over the next several years. Three-year starter Adam Patterson will play at either center or tackle. The 6’ 3, 260 senior will be a college prospect and anchor the front line. Two- year starter Landon Johnson will be the quarterback and punter. Cam Downey returns at running back and Hayes Evans and Andrew Colley will return to lock down the corners on defense. Brett Roberts will move from offensive line to linebacker where he will join 3-year starter Fisher Simmons and Downey. Both defensive ends return in Ricky Akridge and Korey Steiffle. Senior noseguard Wyatt Watson will be another name to watch on defense.

2016 Roundup: Hokes Bluff returns five starters on offense and six on defense and the overall numbers are very good again with 60 players expected on the fall roster. Though only one offensive lineman returns, the Eagles return both receivers, both running backs, a solid group of linebackers, and a very strong secondary. The kicking game will also be very good. The combination of experienced returnees and new, young players should make the Eagles an improved team in 2016 with an even brighter future ahead in coming years.
Did You Know? Hokes Bluff Head Coach Mike Robertson was inducted into the Etowah County Sports Hall of Fame this past spring.
