CLASS 7A REGION 4 GADSDEN TITANS Twice in the past six seasons, Gadsden City has made it as far as the state semi-finals. Both times the Titans lost to Hoover by 35 points. In fact, Gadsden City has never beaten Hoover (0-4), with all four losses coming in the last 6 seasons. In those losses, Gadsden City has never held Hoover under 30 points. Thus, the big question in 7A football for 2015 is, “Can Gadsden City get over the ‘Hoover Hump’?” Gadsden City is likely to field the best team in the short nine year history of the school. The Titans only lost 2-3 starters off last season’s squad that was one win away from the Super Seven. Gadsden City is deep, talented, and experienced across the board at virtually every position. The Titans have a tremendous senior class of over 30 players. The running game is loaded with the return of tailback Rodney Bozeman, Jr. The Titans’ passing attack was the best it has ever been in 2014 and that should continue this season with the return of Deramus and a bevy of quality receivers including Denzell Mooney, Darnell Mooney, Jalen Swain, Jaylon Williams, and A.J. Major. The offensive line will again be led by Sr. Jahmal Jelks. The Titans are equally loaded on the defensive side, particularly at linebacker. The schedule is, as usual, very difficult. The Titans play perennial power Auburn, rival Oxford, and tough region foes Bob Jones and James Clemens. In addition, the Titans swapped Hewitt-Trussville for a road trip to traditional national power Goose Creek, South Carolina in the metro Charleston area at mid-season.
