Jacksonville Christian will
return 7 starters on both offense
and defense from a 2014 squad
that advanced to the AHSAA
football playoffs for only the
second time in school history.
The big shoes to fill will be
finding a way to replace Daylon
Brackett, a 1A All-State player,
the Pigskin Roundup All-Star
Team quarterback, and the most
decorated player in JCA history.
With Brackett now at JSU, Head
Coach Tommy Miller will look to
junior Jake Mitchell to take the
helm. He will be joined in the
backfield by junior running backs
Reed Murphy and Josh Boling.
Josh Thornton, Ian Bonds, and
Andrew Stone will all be starters,
as will 2 year starting senior
center Jonah Parker.
Miller points to Spring Garden,
Cedar Bluff, Valley Head, and
Gaylesville as the top teams in
Class 1A, Region 7. With no fall
jamboree planned and Shades
Mountain Christian dropping
football, Jacksonville Christian
will not open the season until
the third week of the season on
September 4th.
COACH TOMMY MILLER...
The top target at receiver will
be sophomore Walker Messer. Just
about every Thunder starter will
play both ways as the total roster
only numbers in the low 20s. That
includes on the offensive and
defensive lines with the only four
senior players on this Jax Christian
team holding down the trenches.
“Our biggest chore is finding
someone to replace Daylon
Brackett. If we can do that we can
compete with some of the teams
on our schedule.”
