PIECES OF ME - JULY 2020 24 .
SOPHIE Thank god . I was told to swap out knives for plastic ones too .
ELI Good thing we have low ceilings .
SOPHIE Sorry . I just need to--
ELI Baby proof . I get it .
Sophie looks away . A bit ashamed . Sad . Clearly , she wasn ’ t planning on taking over the paternal role so soon .
Eli begins his pilgrimage to--
INT . HOME OFFICE
As we left it ... a bloody war zone . Gore , bone and scattered teeth create biological landmines . Academia is dead .
There ’ s a faint meow . Eli steps forward and gags . Snowflake ’ s white fur is now a deep red - he ’ s looking healthy , as he chokes down a rotten chunk of flesh .
ELI ( gags )
Ugh . You poor bastard .
He shoos Snowflake away and picks up the remaining pieces of himself ... literally , then dumps it in the trash . Teeth and bone CLATTER , as they land on top of the empty bottles like cool rain on a tin roof .
Eli scrutinizes the carnage and gets to work , scrubbing away blood with soap and an old sponge . He rings out a slurry of remains into a bucket .
He turns his attention to the wall . A flap of skin is splattered against a framed diploma . He peels it off and wipes away the blood with a magic eraser . Good as new .
Little by little the room comes together . You wouldn ’ t know someone tried to off themselves , unless you had a black light , but a little bleach can fix that , right ?
Eli tucks his chair into the desk and takes it all in . He ’ d smile , but can ’ t - his face is a mess and his eyes are fixated on the mantle .
